After Cooper's calcium levels were back to normal, we took Cooper off of magnesium, potassium, and fiber supplements mid October (we had been using them to bring down the calcium level) to see if the hypercalcemia he experienced in June would return and it has. We had his blood tested this week, about six weeks later, and it has gone up from 10.5 to 12.2, about one and a half above what it should be. Hypercalcemia is a serious condition that disrupts the body's functioning. We will put him back on fiber, magnesium, and potassium supplements to bring it down again. We will take him back in a month to retest the blood and we will do a blood test for pancreatitis because he is losing weight and we don't know why. He won't eat a lot at a time so we don't know if his teeth bother him, if it's his stomach/digestive system, or if it's the environment. So, we will feed him alone in a separate room away from the other cats; we will get a dental appointment for him; and we will have the additional blood work done in January.
